Securitize has accumulated £10 million in a recently held series A funding round led by Blockchain Capital.

The company aims to offer a market-ready primary issuance platform for asset-backed security tokens on the blockchain, and has played an important role in the development of the digital securities industry, including issuances for SPiCE VC, Augmate, blockchain VC firm’s 22x, and the upgrade of Blockchain Capital’s digital security. The San Francisco, California-based company has more customers in the planning that will be issuing digital securities soon.

A portion of the funds also came from Tokyo-based VC firm Global Brain that will help Securitize in the fields of business development and marketing efforts in Asia and from NXTP, a leading Latin American fund, which will help the company to expand in the area. World Economic Forum’s former Managing Director and blockchain professor, Donna Redel, and former KKR partner and crypto expert John Pfeffer, are also other strategic investors in Securitize.

Ariel Arrieta, founder and managing partner of NXTP, another backer, stated: “Securitize’s business model and strategy are aligned with NXTP’s belief that security tokens will play a central role in the rapidly growing market of crypto assets. Securitize has taken a lead by granting a wide audience access to cutting-blockchain technology.”

Last month, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak co-founded EQUI Global, a blockchain-powered venture capital company that focuses on technology. According to a press release, EQUI Global unites the “conventional principles of investing with a blockchain backend” that enables value to be realised and then traded in the open market via the EquiToken, which means investors can buy into the fund and then trade out via the liquidity developed by the Ethereum-based token.

Other participants in the Securitize funding round were Coinbase Ventures, OK Blockchain Capital, and Xpring at Ripple.
